Searchin’ Like It’s 1999

February 24, 2010

I presented “Searchin’ Like it’s 1999” at the 7th Annual Hot Springs Teachers Teaching with TechnologyTM Conference in January.  Most teachers know to search for keywords rather than entire questions.  Some understand how to filter out undesirable results using the Boolean operators And, Or, and Not.  That’s where we were 10 years ago, and that’s where most people still are.  Google offers dozens of specialized search engines and tools to support alternative search strategies that many are unaware of.  At the T3 conference, I introduced Wonder Wheel, Timeline Search, Google Squared, Google Alerts, and the More and Even More links.

Be looking for information about my next presentation at the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science and Technology in March!
