Google SketchUp Session at EMBHSSC Spring Training

February 13, 2012

The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp recently hosted a workshop for camp administrators from across the country.  They asked me to share how we used Google SketchUp at the UALR camp.  Below are the session description and slides.

Participants will learn how Google’s free SketchUp 3D modeling tool can be used to transform student ideas into digital scale models. Using built-in textures and presets, students can quickly see what their design would look like in real life. Pulling existing models of buildings, vehicles, and machinery from Google’s 3D Warehouse, students can focus on creating scenario-based solutions with minimal experience using 3D modeling software.

Google Calendar Webinar

February 10, 2012

The Arkansas Department of Higher Education Perkins Program arranged with me to host a one hour webinar about Google Calendar.  The description and slides follow.  You can catch upcoming webinars live on their webinars page at http://www.adheperkins.com/webinars_2012.htm

Google Calendar allows you to create and share calendars with your students, your colleagues, the world, or no one at all. Create a personal calendar that synchronizes with your smart phone. Create daily course calendars complete with embedded documents, and share these with your students so they can keep up to date. Keep your committee, team, group, or department on the same page.

Discover Arkansas History: The Prezi

November 5, 2010

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m presenting the Prezi portion of this workshop which is a wonderful mix of technology, a history presentation, a national park tour, and lunch in an old brothel.  Check out the Prezi about Prezi (metaPrezi?) that I’ll be giving.  Included are step-by-step directions for including Discovery Streaming files in Prezi.

The title for the Prezi portion of the workshop is “Forget everything you know about PowerPoint.”
