Oracle Academy Announces Free “Introduction to Computer Science” Program

November 2, 2008

Great news today from the Oracle Academy!  Schools can now teach courses such as Database Design, Database Programming, and PL/SQL using Oracle Academy curriculum and instructor training FREE!  I attended Oracle Academy training in 2004 and 2005 and I’ve been very happy with their content and support ever since.

Here is the message I received from Oracle:

The Oracle Academy team is excited to announce membership for the 2009–2010 academic year will be FREE of charge for all institutions and instructors wishing to participate in the Oracle Academy “Introduction to Computer Science” program!

The new price applies to any Oracle Academy certified instructor wishing to renew their annual membership or any new instructor desiring to become a member of this innovative program!

Benefits of this program include:

  • Faculty professional development
  • Curriculum and technical support
  • Hosted curriculum and database environment
  • Training and certification discounts

To take advantage of this new pricing, registration for the 2009–2010 academic year will open on 17 November, 2008! Please visit academy.oracle.com or contact us at academy_us@oracle.com.

If you are an AP Computer Science AB school who is still smarting from College Board abandonment or you are just looking for a new course to add to your Computer Science or Business programs, give this a look.  When I went through the program, training was $2,500 and the renewal cost for each teacher per year was $500.  This is an excellent opportunity and it costs nothing.

PS:  Tell them Daniel Moix from the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts sent you!
